Power Up!

Find out how Chihiro Uchida and Kwok Min Yi power up for the role of Kitri in Singapore Dance Theatre’s Don Quixote!

We had the pleasure of watching a preview of Chihiro Uchida, Principal Dancer, as Kitri during Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT) Season 2019 Launch. Light, humorous, and playful–audiences are definitely in for a delightful treat.

Before a performance:
“My current favourite warm-up exercise to do before a performance is Pilates Bridge with having Pilates ball in between the knees.”

Chihiro also does 10-15 push ups, and almost every possible step on demi-pointe during the barre exercises to get her calves ready for the role of Kitri.

Kwok Min Yi, SDT’s newest First Artist, will be taking the stage as the first local dancer to play a principal role in Don Quixote.

Before a performance:
Min Yi does planks, side planks and the hundreds as well.

“Those exercises help with core strength and stability so they are very important.”

Catch both Chihiro and Min Yi at the theatres next weekend! We can’t wait to watch them perform too!
